
On Tuesday, 2nd March, 2021 a ceremony was organized by the Bosomtwe District Health Directorate at the forecourt of the Kuntenase Government Hospital to Launch the COVID-19 Vaccine.
The District Chief Executive of the Bosomtwe District Hon. J.K Asumming, the District Director of Health, the District Coordinating Director, the Hon. Presiding Member for Bosomtwe District, District Magistrate, District Police Commander, G.E.S director, some senior staff of the Bosomtwe District Assembly, some staff of the Kuntenase Government hospital and the media were all present to grace the ceremony.
Dr. Twumasi the District Health Director in his welcome address thanked the Honorable D.C.E and staff of the Bosomtwe District Assembly for gracing the event. He further outlined the reasons for the organization of the ceremony. In his speech, he was content the Bosomtwe District was selected as part of the 43 MMDA’s to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
The District Chief Executive in his submission said efforts has been put in place to ensure every eligible citizen of Ghana is vaccinated hence Bosomtwe District has targeted to vaccinate about 7000 people in its district in the first phase of the administration of the vaccine. Giving specifications of sequence that the vaccines will be administered, he said the health workers, teachers form age 50 and above, people above age 60 and people with underlined health conditions will all be part of the first phase batch to receive the vaccine. He further encouraged all present to take the vaccine and allay all fears.
In order to set a precedence, the Honorable D.C.E proceeded after his speech to be the first to take the vaccine in his district of which other senior staff of the assembly followed suit.
The District Health Director in his closing remarks further clarified that people below the ages of 18 and pregnant women are exempted from the first phase of the administration of the vaccine. He again thanked members present at the ceremony and also encouraged them to take the vaccine when their time was due.
