
The Social Welfare Department of the Bosomtwe District Assembly on gave out cash and items which included refrigerators, industrial sewing machines, provisions, transfer showcase with credit cards, clutch motor, hair drier etc to persons with disabilities in the district at the forecourt of the District assembly.
An introductory address by the head of social welfare department at the Bosomtwe District Assembly, Mr. Adusei Amponsah, hinted on the government’s decision to raise the living standards of the persons with disability in the country thereby putting up measures to eradicate beggars (disabled) on streets. He further edged the disabled who are to receive the items to work utilize them profitably. He encouraged them to partake in any activity undertaken in the community.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. J.K Asuming in His speech outlined the government intentions to develop the Bosomtwe community. He touched on the planting for food and jobs, one district one factory which are all initiatives by the government to improve the standards of living of the people which the district is also benefiting from.
Addressing issues on persons with disabilities, he said the government has increased the amount to be given the disabled to 3% in the district assembly common fund. He also touched on the government’s intention involve persons with disabilities in its governance thereby sighting an example of a disabled being appointed in the assembly’s committee. The Hon. DCE closing his speech encouraged persons with disabilities to be entrepreneurial in their day to day activities in order to keep up with the pace of development in the district and in the country as a whole.
Mr. Arhin a beneficiary of the items thanked the president Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo and the District Chief Executive for the items. He also tasked those receiving the items to make good use of the items and engage themselves in businesses that will give them income that will increase their standard of living
