Relieve Items

The Social Welfare Department of the Bosomtwe District Assembly on Friday 19th October donated cash and items which included refrigerators, industrial sewing machines, drilling machines, bags of rice and many others to persons with disabilities in the district at the forecourt of the District assembly.

The District Coordinating Director, Mrs. Agatha Ahia who spoke on behalf of the District Chief Executive who had attended a stakeholders meeting at the Golden Tulip Hotel on the 2019 budget which will be read in November, heaped praises on the Assemblyman for Feyiase who is also the chairman of the committee on social services in the district for his relentless effort in making sure that the program become a success.

She made emphasis on certain projects the Nana Akuffo Addo led government is embarking on which includes planting for food and jobs, planting for export and rural development which every district is nursing food items and given to farmers for free for them to grow for export. She expressed that the Bosomtwe District Assembly have chosen coconut and palm oil for this project which the Agric department have nursed some and given to farmers at Pease.

The assistant head  of social welfare department at the Bosomtwe District Assembly, Mr. Adusei Amponsah, in his welcome address advised the recipients to work with the items that is been given them so that they will go and sit by the road side to beg for alms. He also said they should informs their colleagues on their street to come at the social welfare department that will improve their welfare.  

She also talked of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) which have recruited 100,000 unemployed graduates into the public sector which have come as a relief for parents whose wards have been home for the past years without been employed.

One last policy of the government that she talked about is the Free Senior High School which have eradicated most school children from selling on the streets to the classroom because they need not to pay anything before going to the senior high school.

In her closing remarks, she emphasized that the government putting in place all this measures to make sure that everyone has a bright future so as they are receiving the items they should make sure that they work with it so that their lives will also improve.

Mrs. Ruth who is the vice president of the disabled federation in the district thanked the president Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo and the District Chief Executive for the items. She also tasked those receiving the items to make good use of the items and engage themselves in businesses that will give them income that will increase their standard of living just like Mr. Asiedu Boafo who have made good use of the farm inputs he received in the previous donations.

In all cash was given to students who are in special schools to pay their fees, others to expand their business and one man also received GH2,000 to get a new prosthetic leg. Laptops was given to some students to aid them in their education. Provisions was also given to some whiles others received refrigerators and industrial sewing machines.
