A CLEAN-UP EXERCISE HELD AT APUTUOGYA MARKET

On Wednesday, 22nd February 2023, Environmental Health Officers of the Bosomtwe District Assembly were invited to honor a clean-up exercise organized by National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana. Three Environmental Health Officers in the persons of Ms. Priscilla Naa Ayorkor Tetteh, Ms. Hanaan Appiadu Boateng, and Ms. Mabel Azure attended the program. The theme of the clean-up exercise was “Good Sanitation”.

About four hundred (400) people including market women, drivers, and individuals from various homes attended the program. The program started at 6:00 am and was marked with free medical screening and ended at 12:30 pm.

The clean-up exercise started from the Education office, then moved to the market square, the basic school, and then came back to the Chief’s palace. Choked gutters were de-silted. Streets and alleys were cleaned. Individuals usually cleaned their frontage and backyards. Houses that had weeds in and around their premises cleared them. The refuse was collected, placed in the compaction truck, and finally sent to the final disposal site. Unauthorized dumping sites within the market area and the community were evacuated. The clean-up exercise was successfully organized. It climaxed with a free medical screening for the community which was held at the Chief’s palace.
