The Disability Fund Management Committee of the Bosomtwe District Assembly organized a short but epoch-making ceremony to present items to deserving beneficiaries of the Disability Common Fund. In all seventeen (17) deserving PWDs who had earlier on been selected and assessed were presented with items which was intended to put food on their table if utilized well.
The DFMC at its last meeting decided to stay away from big ceremonies on disbursement days and cut down on the amount of money spent on the day by having a short and less costly ceremony. Therefore, the exercise took place in front of the office of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.
In attendance was the Co-ordinating Director, the GFD representative of the district, the District Social Welfare Officer, Staff of the Department of Social welfare and Community Development as well as beneficiaries. The District Social Welfare Officer, set the ball rolling by welcoming all present to the occasion. He went on to thank them for honouring the invitation and promised that it was going to be a short and direct ceremony.
The GFD representative in the district advised all beneficiaries to make use of the items being received and make sure that they feed from it. He advised that there is dignity in labour and implored them to desist from begging and work tirelessly to earn a living since disability is not inability. The Coordinating Director was the last speaker at the short ceremony. She emphasized on the fact that, since the last monitoring exercise showed the committee that some people do not work with items received, those who are found culpable will have their items seized and given to other PWDs to work with. She encouraged all beneficiaries to work hard to feed themselves and their families.
After the speeches, the PWDs were refreshed and then given their items.
