GREEN GHANA DAY

The Bosomtwe District Assembly had the opportunity to participate in the Green Ghana activity organized by the government. His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo declared Friday, 10th June, 2022 as this year’s Green Ghana Day with the theme “Mobilizing for Greener Future”. As part of the activities to mark the day in the District, the Assembly together with the Forestry Commission will officially plant some trees in the District Capital, Kuntanase. The Green Ghana initiative, according to the President, would leave a big legacy for future generation through the planting of trees with the target to plant 20 million trees across the country.

The Assembly launched the Green Ghana Day at the forecourt of the Assembly. This was grace with the present of the District Chief Executive (Hon. Joseph Kwesi Asuming, ESQ), District Coordinating Director, Rep. from the Forestry Commission, District Environmental Health Officer, District Director, MOFA, Kuntanase Traditional Council, Kuntanase Unit Committee Member, Kuntanase Assembly Member and Staff.

The District Chief Execute expressed his appreciation to members for been present and welcomed Officers from the forestry commission to the Assembly. He subsequently launched the ceremony. The District Chief Executive, Hon. Joseph Kwasi Asuming, Esq urged individuals to get involve in planting of trees and also advised them to take proper care of the trees. The DCE together with the Chiefs and elders of Kuntanase Traditional Council, the Assembly Member, the Forestry Director, staffs of the District Assembly planted the its first tree at the District Assembly premises. He further explained how the tree “Militia” works, which provides shed and hope that in the next five years, it will grow nicely.

The District Forestry Director, Suzzy Ankomah, thanked the Assembly Members and individuals who welcomed her and also helped in the distribution of half of their target trees. She stated that 32,000 out of the 37,000 targets have been distributed and encourages individuals to help reach their targets since there is still more work to be done.

After District Chief Execute plantation, members then move into the community to continue with the plant.
