The world rabies day was observed in the Bosomtwe District on Thursday, the 28th day of September, 2023 with the Theme: All for 1, One Heath for all. In attendance was Mr. Yamoah a rep for MP of Bosomtwe District, the District Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Charles Sasah Tetteh, Prof. Benjamin Obukowho Emikpe, Dean for KNUST School of Vertinary Medicine, Mad. Victoria Dery, Mr. Larry, the District Veterinary Officer and the face of HESA-KNUST, Alberta Essiama Affran.
The speakers highlighted on signs, prevention and treatment measures to be observed by all to properly manage the spread of the infection. Rabies comes most frequently from the exposure to wild animals like bats and dogs. The only way to prevent rabies is to practice annual routine vaccination of puppies. Members were educated on ways to treat and handle effected person.
