RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION

The Bosomtwe District Assembly in collaboration with the Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) held a stakeholder meeting on Thursday, 26th August, 2021 at the Church of Pentecost to discuss the matters on the construction of the Western Railway line and address any related issues. The meeting call upon the Hon. District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director, Staff of the District Assembly, the Hon. Presiding Member of Bosomtwe District Assembly, Convener’s of some Sub-committees of the Assembly, Chiefs and Elders of the adjoining towns from Aduaben, Hon. Assembly Members of Aduaben Electoral Area and all Project Affected persons along the route of the railway line.

The Government of Ghana through the Ghana Railway Development Authority, an agency of the Ministry of Railways Development has contracted AFCONS Infrastructure Limited for the redevelopment of the Western Railway line. When completed, the project will transform the existing Narrow-Gauge (NR) railway line into a Standard Gauge (SG) line from Aduaben to Obuasi and from an approximately 51km of SG line serving Obuasi, Akrokerri, Bekwai and the adjoining towns to Aduaben.

The meeting was held successfully with all the Covid-19 protocols adhered.
