The Bosomtwe District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) inaugurated the District Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) at a meeting held in the Bosomtwe District Assembly Hall on Thursday, 29th August, 2023. The meeting, which began at 11:00 AM, was attended by key figures including the District Chief Executive (DCE), the Kontihene of Kuntanase, the Electoral Commissioner for Bosomtwe, and the District Police Commander. Representatives from political parties, departmental heads, and faith-based organizations were also present.
The NCCE Director, Mr. Albert Bentil welcomed participants, emphasizing the IPDC's role in ensuring peace during the upcoming elections. The Kontihene (Nana Premo Kwagyen II), also elected as the committee's chairman, urged unity and peace, highlighting Ghana's reputation as a peaceful nation. DCE Hon. Joseph Assuming (Esq) called for a collective effort to prevent violence and maintain peace across the district.
The Electoral Commissioner for the District, Madam Evelyn Kattah discussed the electoral process, stressing that elections are a continuous process requiring ongoing vigilance to prevent violence. She identified potential hotspots for electoral violence and emphasized political tolerance and adherence to election rules.
The District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Eric Akwaboah reassured the assembly of the police's commitment to ensuring a violence-free election by working closely with the Electoral Commission.
The meeting featured an interactive session where stakeholders addressed their concerns. The event concluded with a group photo symbolizing unity, followed by a closing prayer led by the Chief Imam of Kuntanase Mosque.
This IPDC meeting is part of the NCCE’s ongoing efforts to promote peaceful elections in the Bosomtwe District, reflecting a commitment to maintaining Ghana's legacy of peaceful democratic processes.
