
On Tuesday 20th April, 2021 a delegation led by the Honorable District Chief Executive Hon. Joseph Kwasi Asuming, District Coordinating Director Madam Agartha Ahia, District Heath Director Dr. Twumasi, Assistant Director, District Finance officer, District Engineer and District Information Officer commissioned CHPS compound at Akokofe. A ceremony which was held at the community center of the Akokofe community welcomed chiefs, elders, and people of Akokofe and the media.
Nana Gyanai Ababio, Akwamuhene of Akokofe in his welcoming address appreciated the good works of the Ashanti Regional Minister Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah, Hon. DR. Yaw Osei Adutwum the Member of Parliament for the Bosomtwe District, the Hon. District Chief Executive and the Akuffo-Addo led government in general for the massive development undertaken in the District of which Akokofe community is benefiting. He said the Akokofe CHPS compound will contribute immensely to the saving of lives of the people of Akokofe and its environs. He added, the CHPS compound will be very helpful to the pregnant and expecting mothers, children and the aged who have to access healthcare in far communities. He was therefore excited about the wonderful edifice that his community has witnessed.
The District Health Director in his introductory address, thanked the Honorable District Chief Executive and the assembly for the efforts to improving access to quality healthcare in the Bosomtwe District of which Akokofe community has also witnessed a CHPS compound. He further said, the CHPS compound which is a community-based healthcare facility requires collective efforts from inhabitants of the community and therefore urged them to own, maintain and patronize the facility in order to ensure access to basic healthcare services as well as promote good and healthy living in the area. Ending his speech, he entreated the people of Pipie community to continue adhering to Covid-19 safety protocols since it is the only way to preventing the spread.
The Hon. District Chief Executive in his address expressed his satisfaction for the presence of the health facility which included staff quarters in the community. He said the CHPS compound formed part of the assembly’s and government’s contribution to improving access to basic quality healthcare in various communities. He again said the facility will serve as a first aid for attending to basic health problems. The Hon. D.C.E also addressed the issue of proper layouts in the Akokofe community and entreated inhabitants to always seek permit from the assembly before constructing projects. Closing his speech, he urged members in the Akokofe community to patronize the services of the CHPS compound and also continue to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols.
The delegation was then led to the site where the project was commissioned and opened for public use.
