
As enshrined in the Convention on the Right of the child of which Ghana was led in its adoption by becoming the first country to ratify and the Children’s Act (Act 560, 1998); Government and Non state institutions are expected to provide working frameworks and activities that protect children against harm and injury; it was therefore welcoming news as Nyonkopa and the District Assembly collaborated to support child protection in the District.
As part of the effort to protect children from the dangers of child labour and its related abuses, the Nyonkopa Cocoa Buying Company and the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in planned on a series of activities to engage with three selected cocoa growing communities in the Bosomtwe District as remediation measures.
Activities included, community entry, focus group discussion, review of community needs and objectives and draft and approval of Community Child Protection Committee and Community Action Plan Committee.
