Saturday, 1st November, 2025 was earmarked for the operation clean your frontage exercise in all the Electoral areas within the Bosomtwe District. The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit together with the various Assembly members from the various communities joined Nananom, opinion leaders, Unit committee member and the community members to carry out the exercise.
The objective of the exercise was to clear communities of filth and also support awareness creation and sensitization to promote behavioral change and community ownership of sanitation activities. Also, individuals were encouraged to come along with basic cleaning tools such as cutlasses, rakes, brooms, hoes, shovels, etc. to clean their immediate surroundings.
The exercise was fully participated by the District Coordinating Director, all the Assembly members in the Area council, District Environmental Health Officer and his staff and staff of the Assembly, security personnel’s including the community members where the exercise was organized. The exercise started at around 6: 15 a.m. and ended at around 9: 44 a.m. characterized by sweeping of streets, walkways, and public spaces, clearing of clogged drains, collection and bagging of solid waste, removal of overgrown vegetation, public education on proper waste disposal, distribution of trash bags and clearing tools and finally transporting waste to designated disposal site.
“Operation clean your frontage” was successful in improving sanitation. It mobilized community members and stakeholders within their respective communities to actively participate in the exercise, supported awareness creation and sensitization which promoted behavioral change and community ownership of sanitation activities.
