DISTRIBUTION AND PLANTING OF PALM-NUT TREES IN THE BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

The Agricultural Department of the Bosomtwe District Assembly distributed Palm-nut trees in the District to promote tree planting in the district as part of a master plan of the Green Ghana project which seeks to restore the forest cover of Ghana.

COVID-19 BOOSTER VACCINATION IN BOSOMTWE DISTRICT

The District Chief Executive of the Bosomtwe District Hon. J.K Asumming, the District Director of Health, the District Coordinating Director, the Hon. Presiding Member for Bosomtwe District, District Magistrate, District Police Commander, G.E.S director and some senior staff of the Bosomtwe District Assembly on Wednesday, 2nd February, 2022 participated in the vaccination exercise on Covid-19.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT TRAINING

Women empowerment is the practice of making women independent so that they can make their own decisions as well as handle their lives without any familial or societal restrictions. It entitles women to take charge of their own personal development. Since women have always been the oppressed ones in a patriarchal society, the main motive of women empowerment is to help them stand equal with men. It is a foundational step to ensure the prosperous growth of a family as well as the country.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WITH STAKEHOLDERS IN THE DISTRICT

The Bosomtwe District Assembly as part of their responsibilities to intensify on the socio-economic growth of the district organized a community engagement with stakeholders in the district on Monday, 25th January 2022. The meeting was organized for all market men and women, drivers, traders, welders, station masters, and all people engaged in businesses to deliberate on matters they were encountering in their business and also to educate them of certain issues such as the necessity of paying rates.

BOSOMTWE DSITRICT ASSEMBLY WORLD DISABILITY DAY CELEBRATION

The Bosomtwe District Assembly on Wednesday, 15th December, 2021 marked and celebrated The World Disability Day at Jachie Training Centre in the early hours of the day around 10:30am. This was made possible by the collaboration between the Bosomtwe District Assembly and the Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations-Bosomtwe.

BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 2021 POPULATION AND HOUSING CENSUS

According to the 2021 Population and Housing Census, the Bosomtwe District Assembly after going through the exercise had a total population of 165,180, with 91,366 urban residents (55.31 percent) and 73,814 rural residents (44.69 percent). The population is made up of 80,428 males, 44,107 of whom are urban males (54.84 percent) and 36,321 of whom are rural males (45.16 percent), and 84,752 females, 47,259 of whom are urban females (55.76 percent) and 37,493 of whom are rural females (45.16 percent) (44.24 percent).

HIV EDUCATION AND SCREENING IN BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

The Bosomtwe District Assembly as part of effort to improve quality health service to the populace, a team from the Health Directorate together with the District Assembly involved themselves to sensitize community members, market traders and various stakeholders in the district on the killer beast and threat to the lives of humanity, HIV/AIDS.

YOUTH APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME – BAC

As part of the vision of the Assembly to held in the development of the District Assembly embarked on an exercise to provision support to some selected youth in the community. This exercise was conducted by the Trade & Industry – BAC of the District Assembly in collaboration with the District Chief Executive to help the youth in the District through apprenticeship.

THE 37TH NATIONAL FARMERS DAY CELEBRATION OF BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

To celebrate the farmers in Ghana for their hardworking and enormous contribution towards growth and development of the country the Bosomtwe District on 3rd December held its 37th Farmers’ Day celebration to commemorate this event at Amakom communities.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING OF THE BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

The Bosomtwe District Assembly on the Friday, 12th November, 2021 held their General Assembly meeting at the Church of Pentecost, Toamfom. The meeting started at about 11:12 am and ended at 5:05pm.  Hon. Michael Yaw Acheampong, Presiding Member, presided in making the meeting a success. INAUGURATION OF METROPOLITAN, MUNICIPAL AND DISTRICT COMMITTEES OF THE GHANA AIDS COMMISSION

Pursuant to section 9(1b) of the Ghana AIDS Commissions Act 2016, Act 938, the Government Board of the Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC) under the chairmanship of H.E the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffu Addo, directed Regional  Committees of the Ghana AIDS Commission to inaugurate and swear in members of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Committees in the Region

REPORT ON GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING OF BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

Summons were given to the Hon. Assembly Members, Member of Parliament, District Chief Executive and all Heads of Department/Unit of the Bosomtwe District Assembly to attend the General Assembly meeting of the Bosomtwe District Assembly. The meeting was organized at the Church of Pentecost, Toamfom on Friday, 15th October, 2021. The meeting started at 11:23am and ended at 4:37pm.

The District Presiding Members presided the meeting. The agenda discussed are as follows;

ASHANTI REGIONAL MMDA’S COMPOSITE BUDGET HEARING

On Monday, 11th October, 2021 at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) Conference Hall, a special meeting was held for the 2022-2024 Composite Budget Hearing for the Bosomtwe District Assembly.

The main purpose of the hearing was to renew the Assembly’s revenue and expenditure performance and the target set for 2022-2024 taking into cognizance Government policies and strategies as well as the 2022-2024 Budget Preparation Guidelines made by the Ministry of Finance.

THE PRESIDENT VISIT TO ASHANTI REGION-KUNTANASE COMMUNITY

The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday, 3rd October 2021, paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Kuntanase Traditional council, Barima Amankwah Adunan II at his Palace at Kuntanase as part of the president 4 day working visit to Ashanti region.

THE CONFIRMATION OF THE PRESIDENT’S NOMINEE FOR THE POSITION OF DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE

On Monday, 27th September, 2021 a special meeting was held at the premises of the Church of Pentecost, Kuntanase to confirm the President’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive for the Bosomtwe District, Hon. Joseph Kwasi Asuming Esq.

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUB- COMMITTEE MEETING

On 17th September, 2021the Finance and Administration Sub-committee held a meeting at the District Assembly’s Conference Room to discuss matters concerning the financial performance of the Assembly.  The meeting started at about 10:37am and ended at 3:30pm. The meeting was successfully organized. The District Budget Analyst, Mrs. Shirley Asante took the committee through the following agenda:

2021 MID YEAR REVIEW MEETING AND PLANNING FOR THE YEAR 2022

In order to review performance for the first half of 2021 and to make informed decisions ahead of 2022 planning period, a meeting was organized by the Bosomtwe District Planning Coordinating Unit (DPCU) and the budget committee on Tuesday August 31st, 2021 at the District Assembly’s conference hall.

REPORT ON CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR STAFF OF BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

A one-day Capacity Building Programme was held for Departmental heads and some core staff of the Bosomtwe District Assembly at the District Assembly Conference Room.

The workshop was organized by the Human Resource Unit of the Assembly with technical support from Geowilson Consult. The training took place on Thursday, 19thAugust, 2021 and was organized to equip staff of the Assembly on Customer Service and Audit.
