LAUNCHING OF THE GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE AND SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME.

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) collaborated with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources (MSWR) to scale up the Citizens Generated Data pilot project in two thematic areas of Gender-Based Violence and Solid Waste Management and held a 2-day training for members.

A TWO (2) DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR DISTRICT TECHNICAL TEAMS ON CITIZENS GENERATED DATA

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources (MSWR) scaled up the Citizens Generated Data pilot project in two thematic areas of Gender-Based Violence and Solid Waste Management. Some members were selected as member of the District Technical Team (DTT), whose mandate is to ensure the implementation and execution of the Citizen-Generated Data scale up project.

PUBLIC EDUCATION AND SENSITIZATION ON THE 3-TIER PENSIONS SCHEME

The Assembly in collaboration with the National Pension Regulatory Authority (NPRA) embarked on a Public Education and Sensitization program on the benefits of joining the 3-Tier pension scheme and other related matters in the Bosomtwe District.

SENSITIZATION ON GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE AT THE ORIENTATION CEREMONY OF BOSOMTWE GIRLS STEM SCHOOL

Gender-Based Violence refers to harmful acts directed at an individual based on their gender. It is rooted in gender inequality, the abuse of power and harmful norms. Gender–based violence is a serious violation of human rights and a life-threatening health and protection issue. It is estimated that one in three women will experience sexual or physical violence in their lifetime. During displacement and times of crisis, the threat of Gender Based Violence (GBV) significantly increases for women and girls.

DISTRICT PLANNING CO-ORDINATING UNIT MEETING

In fulfilment of Act 936 Section 85 (a) and (b) of the Local Government Act 2016, members of the District Planning Co-ordinating Unit (DPCU) were invited on Thursday, 13th April, 2023 to their first meeting at the District Conference Hall. The meeting discussed Presentation of Departmental Report for 1st quarter, 2023, Submission of Departmental Annual Report (2022) and Other Matters.

A DAY WORKSHOP ON EXPANSION OF GREATER KUMASI METROPOLITAN ASSEMBLY PROJECT ON HOUSEHOLD TOILET FOR THE URBAN POOR.

Officers from Environmental Health Unit of the Bosomtwe District attended a training workshop towards effective implementation of the Greater Kumasi Water and Sanitation project which has been expanded to include eight (8) districts. Fifty (50) officers from four (4) MMDAs participated in the workshop which included Bosomtwe District Assembly, Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly and Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal Assembly. The training was organized at Micklin Hotel – Danyame on 15th March, 2023.

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING

The Bosomtwe District Assembly on Wednesday, 15th March, 2023 held their Finance and Administration Sub-Committee meeting at the District Assembly Conference Hall. The meeting started at about 10:38am with opening remarks.

The meeting discussed the 2022 Financial Performance of the Assembly, Revenue collection strategies for 2023, Annual Report on Administration Issues and other business.

HEALTH EDUCATION AT BOSOMTWE GIRLS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

On Monday 13th March, 2023, a team of four facilitators from The Bosomtwe District Assembly Environmental Health office embarked on a day health education at Bosomtwe Girls Senior High School at Deduako during their orientation held within the week. REPORT ON BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING

The Bosomtwe District Assembly, Budget Unit held their 1st Budget Committee Meeting on Thursday, 9th March, 2023 at the District Assembly Conference Hall. The meeting started at 10:00am with an opening prayer, followed with the agenda for the day as follows; Discussion of 2022 Financial Performance, Strategies to improve revenue in 2023 and ended with other business.

A CLEAN-UP EXERCISE HELD AT APUTUOGYA MARKET

On Wednesday, 22nd February 2023, Environmental Health Officers of the Bosomtwe District Assembly were invited to honor a clean-up exercise organized by National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana. Three Environmental Health Officers in the persons of Ms. Priscilla Naa Ayorkor Tetteh, Ms. Hanaan Appiadu Boateng, and Ms. Mabel Azure attended the program. The theme of the clean-up exercise was “Good Sanitation”.

66TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Bosomtwe District Assembly took part in the 66th Independence Anniversary Celebration for the year 2023. Their celebration took place at Kuntanase D/A school park opposite the Bosomtwe District Assembly on Monday, 6th March 2023 under the theme: “Our Unity, Our Strength and Our Purpose”.  The celebration starts at 8.00am and was graced with the present of the District Coordinating Director, the District GES Director, Heads of Departments/Units and supporting staff, District Teachers and a rep for the Hon.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum organized a groundbreaking for the construction of GETFUND Projects on Wednesday, 8th February, 2023 in some selected communities in the District Assembly. This was as part of the measure to solve the educational infrastructural gap in the District. The ceremony was organized by the Hon.

THE DISBURSEMENT OF THE DISABILITY COMMOND FUND IN THE BOSOMTWE DISTRICT

On the 31st January, 2023 the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in conjunction with the Disability Fund Management Committee distributed various items to members of the disability fraternity in the District. The programme was organized at the forecourt of the district assembly.

MY FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Bosomtwe District Assembly, Hon. Lawyer Joseph Kwasi Asuming, together with the District Coordinating Director, Madam Agatha Ahia, and the Representative from the District Education Office, Mr. Eric Owusu-Poku (Finance and Administration) visited some basic schools in the District on Tuesday 10th January, 2023 to mark ‘My First Day at School’.
