TOWN HALL/COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MEETING

On 25th April, 2022, the Bosomtwe District Assembly conducted a town hall meeting to engage Jachie community members on the 2023 Fee Fixing of the Assembly as part of measures to ensure participation of the citizenry in the process of governance and in pursuance of the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936). The town hall meeting was held at Jachie Area Council in Jachie Pentecost Church.

TOWN HALL MEETING OF THE BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

The Bosomtwe District Assembly on 21st April, 2022 organized a town hall meeting to educate community members on Fee Fixing of the Assembly and the payment of rates. The programme was organized as part of measures to ensure participation of the citizenry in the process of governance and in pursuance of the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936). The meeting commenced from Yaase Area Council. Members present were taken through the imposition of the various fees, rates and licenses for the year 2023.

TOWN HALL MEETING ON 2023 FEE FIXING AT ABONO

As part of measures to ensure participation of the citizenry in the process of governance and in pursuance of the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936), a town hall meeting was organized by the Bosomtwe District Assembly on 20th April, 2022 on the 2023 Fee Fixing of the Assembly. The first meeting was held at Abono Area Council. Member were taken through the imposition of the various fees, rates and licenses for the year 2023.

COMMISSIONING OF ZOOMLION SANITATION VEHICLE TO THE BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

In order to keep Ghana clean and green, Zoomlion Ghana Limited on 8th April 2022, donated a compacter truck to the Bosomtwe District Assembly. This is to help the district properly manage its waste.

Miss Theresah Pomaa head of Zoomlion in the Bosomtwe District in her address said, the company’s objectives is to provide integrated waste management solution i.e waste collection. Hence the provision of the compacter truck to the district was to help facilitate this objective.

COMMISSIONING OF TOILET FACILITY

On Wednesday, 9th March, 2022, the District Chief Executive of Bosomtwe District Assembly, Hon. Joseph Kwasi Asuming (ESQ), District Coordinating Director, Agatha Ahia, District Engineer, Isaac Kumi and District Information Officer, Vida Agyekum Boatemaa and some staff of the Assembly commissioned a 12-Seater Toilet Facility with a Mechanized Borehole at Bosomtwe Oyoko, Abuotem, and Feyiase Community Day School.

ELECTION OF PRESIDING MEMBER

The Bosomtwe District Assembly on Friday, 18th February, 2022 observed the Presiding Member elections at the Pentecost Church at Toamfoum. The purpose of the gathering was to elect an Assembly Members as a Presiding Member (PM) to steer and drive the assembly to achieving unity, solidarity and growth. The meeting saw a record attendance with a membership of 43 with male Assembly members being 40 and female Assembly members being 3. The District Assembly staff was also in attendance to witness the occasion and also the Asokwa Presiding Member.

SUPPLY OF FOOD DONATED TO A FAMILY OF TRIPLET ON 14TH MARCH 2022 AT PAISE.

The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in collaboration with Charlie Care and Needy Foundation (NGO) visited Piase community to donate some food items to Madam Mary Nsiah, a mother of triplet. The visit was necessary based on a report given by a good citizen that the woman has given birth to triplet but their standard of living is very poor so the family needs our support way back. They are a family of 8 people including the triplet.

COMMISSIONING OF PROJECTS

On Wednesday, 9th March, 2022 after the tour of the Ashanti Regional Minister to inspect all completed and on-going project, The District Chief Executive also used the opportunity and commissioned three Public Toilet Facilities at Abuotem, Feyiase and Oyoko Community Day School. The commissioning was graced with the present of the District Engineer, District Information Officer, Chiefs in the mentioned communities, and some staff.

REPORT ON REGIONAL MINSTER’S TOUR

The Ashanti Regional Minister on Wednesday, 9th of March, 2022 toured Bosomtwe District to see the progress of the various projects completed and on-going within the district. His first point of call was the construction of the Lake Road followed other projects in the district. The Minister was accompanied by the District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director, Heads of Departments and some Staff of the District Assembly.  

REPORT ON BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY STAFF DURBAR

The staff durbar was held at the four court of the Bosomtwe District Assembly at about 10:12 am on Monday, 13th December, 2021. The meeting was held with the purpose of deliberating on the issues that bothers staff members (both formal and informal). Various presentations were made on Local Government Service Protocols, GLOSAG Pension Pay and Welfare of the Assembly.

65TH INDEPENDENCE DAY ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION REPORT

The 65th Independence Day Anniversary celebration took place at Kuntanase D/A school park on Sunday 6th March 2022 under the theme: “Working together, Bouncing back better”.  The function starts at 8.00am. it was graced with the present of the Hon. District Chief Executive, the District Coordinating Director, the District GES Director, Heads of Department, District Teachers and some staff of the District Assembly.

REPORT ON DAY CARE MONITORING AT JACHIE COMMUNITY WITHIN THE DISTRICT

On the 23rd February 2022, we embarked on a roll call base on day care activities, which we normally do in our department. It took place around some schools at Jachie, which include; ST Anthony International School, Freeman Methodist Educational Complex, House of Faith Basic School, Lakeview Educational Complex, Happy Home Academy, Agape Academy, Konadu International Complex.

MONEY DONATED TO A VISUALLY IMPAIRED MOTHER OF TWINS

The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in collaboration with Bosomtwe Enti Foundation visited St Michael hospital at Pramso to donate money to Miss Evelyn Agyekum a visually impaired mother of twins. The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development followed up based on the report made by the hospital administration that a visually impaired girl of seventeen years has given birth to twins.

DISTRIBUTION AND PLANTING OF PALM-NUT TREES IN THE BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

The Agricultural Department of the Bosomtwe District Assembly distributed Palm-nut trees in the District to promote tree planting in the district as part of a master plan of the Green Ghana project which seeks to restore the forest cover of Ghana.

COVID-19 BOOSTER VACCINATION IN BOSOMTWE DISTRICT

The District Chief Executive of the Bosomtwe District Hon. J.K Asumming, the District Director of Health, the District Coordinating Director, the Hon. Presiding Member for Bosomtwe District, District Magistrate, District Police Commander, G.E.S director and some senior staff of the Bosomtwe District Assembly on Wednesday, 2nd February, 2022 participated in the vaccination exercise on Covid-19.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT TRAINING

Women empowerment is the practice of making women independent so that they can make their own decisions as well as handle their lives without any familial or societal restrictions. It entitles women to take charge of their own personal development. Since women have always been the oppressed ones in a patriarchal society, the main motive of women empowerment is to help them stand equal with men. It is a foundational step to ensure the prosperous growth of a family as well as the country.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WITH STAKEHOLDERS IN THE DISTRICT

The Bosomtwe District Assembly as part of their responsibilities to intensify on the socio-economic growth of the district organized a community engagement with stakeholders in the district on Monday, 25th January 2022. The meeting was organized for all market men and women, drivers, traders, welders, station masters, and all people engaged in businesses to deliberate on matters they were encountering in their business and also to educate them of certain issues such as the necessity of paying rates.

BOSOMTWE DSITRICT ASSEMBLY WORLD DISABILITY DAY CELEBRATION

The Bosomtwe District Assembly on Wednesday, 15th December, 2021 marked and celebrated The World Disability Day at Jachie Training Centre in the early hours of the day around 10:30am. This was made possible by the collaboration between the Bosomtwe District Assembly and the Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations-Bosomtwe.

BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 2021 POPULATION AND HOUSING CENSUS

According to the 2021 Population and Housing Census, the Bosomtwe District Assembly after going through the exercise had a total population of 165,180, with 91,366 urban residents (55.31 percent) and 73,814 rural residents (44.69 percent). The population is made up of 80,428 males, 44,107 of whom are urban males (54.84 percent) and 36,321 of whom are rural males (45.16 percent), and 84,752 females, 47,259 of whom are urban females (55.76 percent) and 37,493 of whom are rural females (45.16 percent) (44.24 percent).

HIV EDUCATION AND SCREENING IN BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

The Bosomtwe District Assembly as part of effort to improve quality health service to the populace, a team from the Health Directorate together with the District Assembly involved themselves to sensitize community members, market traders and various stakeholders in the district on the killer beast and threat to the lives of humanity, HIV/AIDS.
